Holly Reynolds is an artist with a passion for nature. Originally from Barltimore, MD, she studied at the Maryland Institute of Art and went on to receive her degree from the Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, PA. Holly and her husband Mike have lived on the Isle of Palms since 1985 where she works in her private studio. They also operate the Island Bird Rescue - a backyard wildlife rehabilitation center. Her experience as a rehabilitator has sharpened her eye for anatomy as well as her respect for nature.
I am fortunate to have my best models literally in my own backyard. Not only does this give me the opportunity to closely observe their anatomy, but also their behaviour and individual personalities. I have been given so many gifts -- the chance to hold a newborn fawn, touch the fur of a red wolf, and smell the wildness of a great blue heron. It is this world of nature that gives me pleasure, and this personal contact enhances my art.
Two of her paintings were chosen for the set of the movie, The Notebook. She wa recently presented the Palmetto Wildlife Rehabiltiation Award by the SC Department of Natural Resources for her work with wild birds.
